Today we’re launching the FBI’s first mobile-friendly website designed specifically for smartphones. Built with HTML5, AJAX, and JavaScript, it features most of the content from the main FBI.gov site. Sub sites like FBIJobs.gov and the Vault (vault.fbi.gov)—along with some pages that are not easily viewable on mobile devices—are not included but can still be viewed on smartphones in the full versions.
Among other features, the mobile site includes:
- Navigation menus that open with a single click;
- An easy-to-use search bar;
- A rotating slider with the latest news; and
- Easily scrollable lists of wanted fugitives and missing kids.
No downloads or applications are required to use the site, and it works on all mobile devices with JavaScript enabled. Visitors using smartphones will be automatically redirected to the mobile site; tablet users will still see the full version of FBI.gov.
